DeFazio’s Efforts on Wildfires Highlighted in Outside Ad
NRDC Action Votes launched a $200,000 television and digital outside spending campaign supporting the re-election of Rep. Peter DeFazio to Congress.
The independent spending campaign shows how DeFazio worked in a bipartisan fashion to secure relief for those in Oregon harmed by this year’s historic wildfires.

“Peter DeFazio has been a champion for addressing the threats of climate change, including from wildfires, and working in a bipartisan fashion to support Oregonians,” said Jossie Steinberg, director of NRDC Action Votes. “We need a lawmaker who can tackle the big problems and deliver results for his constituents. Peter DeFazio has proven he can do both.”
When the wildfires began to rage, Peter DeFazio didn’t hesitate and put together a bipartisan delegation to lobby the White House for emergency funds to fight the fire, help rebuild, and prevent future destructive wildfires. He is working with Democrats and Republicans to secure disaster relief to rebuild homes and businesses.
A 2020 poll of battleground House districts found that environmental messaging can swing competitive House races.
