October 23, 2024 – Pittsburgh, PA – NRDC Action Votes today called out U.S. Senate candidate Dave McCormick’s opposition to replacing lead pipes in Pittsburgh with a new set of digital ads targeting Pittsburgh families. The ads are part of NRDC Action Votes’s Safe Drinking Water Is on the Ballot Week initiative to raise awareness that clean, safe drinking water is not a given, and candidates like McCormick would put children’s long term health at risk.
“Safe drinking water is not a partisan issue and Dave McCormick’s refusal to support essential funding for lead pipe replacement is a direct threat to the health and well-being of Pittsburgh families,” said Jon Colmenares, Deputy Director NRDC Action Votes. “Lead contamination is a serious health issue that disproportionately affects our most vulnerable communities and children, but Hedge Fund CEO McCormick couldn’t care less. It’s time to hold candidates accountable for positions that endanger our families and compromise our future.”
NRDC Action Votes is urging voters to consider the profound implications of opposition to $98 million in funding to replace Pittsburgh lead pipes. The digital ads will be running this week.
Paid for by NRDC Action Votes and not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee.
